The Project: A contractor was seeking an import of specialist soil for an infrastructure project.

The Challenge:

• The client was seeking an import of specialist soil for SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems).
• The initial quote before Nexus ReGen’s involvement was £616,000.

Nexus ReGen’s Solution:

• In order to save costs and provide a more sustainable solution, Nexus ReGen utilised their extensive network of contacts to source a local supplier.
• The local supplier had a specialist soil, that had been created by blending naturally occurring materials and was suitable for SuDS.
• The import cost was £244,000, a saving of over 60%.

Results:

1. **Cost Savings –**The client saved a massive £372,000 by using Nexus ReGen.
2. Reduction of CO2 Emissions – The import that Nexus ReGen enabled avoided CO2 emissions by utilising a local supplier, reducing delivery distance and therefore transportation emissions.
3. Local partnership – Nexus ReGen facilitated a strategic partnership between a local supplier and a large infrastructure project to create a connection that would have otherwise been missed. This localised supply chain not only enhances project efficiency but also boosts local economic development by supporting a small business in the area.
